The Odyssey
*The Odyssey (2026)* is expected to adapt the legendary Greek epic by Homer, telling the long and perilous journey of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, as he struggles to return home after the Trojan War.

After the fall of Troy, Odysseus sets sail for home, but his journey is cursed by the sea god Poseidon, who seeks revenge after Odysseus blinds his son, the Cyclops Polyphemus. What should have been a short voyage turns into a ten-year odyssey filled with danger, temptation, and loss.

Odysseus and his crew first encounter the land of the Lotus-Eaters, where some men lose their desire to return home. He rescues them and continues onward, only to face the monstrous Cyclops. Using cunning rather than strength, Odysseus escapes—but earns Poseidon’s wrath.

As the journey continues, Odysseus encounters the enchantress Circe, who turns his men into animals before eventually aiding him. He then travels to the Underworld, where he receives guidance from the prophet Tiresias about the trials ahead and the importance of self-control.
The voyage becomes increasingly deadly. Odysseus must navigate between the sea monsters Scylla and Charybdis, losing men in the process. Later, his crew disobeys divine warnings and slaughters sacred cattle belonging to the sun god Helios, bringing further punishment upon themselves. Zeus destroys their ship, leaving Odysseus as the sole survivor.

Washed ashore on the island of the nymph Calypso, Odysseus is held captive for years, offered immortality if he stays. Despite the temptation, he longs for home and his wife Penelope. Eventually, the gods intervene, and he is allowed to leave.
Upon finally reaching Ithaca, Odysseus finds his kingdom overrun by suitors competing for Penelope’s hand, believing him dead. Disguised as a beggar, he secretly assesses the situation and reunites with his son, Telemachus.
In a dramatic climax, Odysseus reveals his identity and defeats the suitors with precision and strategy, reclaiming his home and restoring order. Penelope tests him to confirm his identity, and they are finally reunited.
*The Odyssey* is a timeless story of perseverance, intelligence, and loyalty. It explores the struggles of returning home—not just physically, but emotionally—after years of hardship. The 2026 adaptation is expected to bring this epic tale to life with modern visuals while preserving its core themes of heroism, temptation, and the enduring power of home.
